StepForward BGC校で働く先生を紹介します。

19回目の今回は、「Yuri先生」に、英語講師になったきっかけ、先生自身の性格や趣味などについてインタビューをしました。

インタビュー（日本語）

• 出身地は？

ケソン市です。

• 大学の専攻は？

心理学を専攻しました。

• 講師の経験は？　

2年間です。以前はプライベートの講師をしていました。

• 講師として好きなレッスンは？

文法を扱うレッスンが好きです。

• 趣味は？

歴史とホラーが大好きです。

• 出身地はどこですか？あなたが生まれ育った場所について教えてください。

ケソン市で生まれ育ちました。都会の子です。子供の頃はほとんど都市部で過ごしましたが、たまに家族で田舎に行って親戚を訪ねることがありました。田舎が好きな人がいる理由はわかりますが、私は都会の生活の速さと新しい体験の絶え間ない流れが好きです。

• 自分自身をどのように表現しますか？

とても好奇心旺盛な人間だと思います。私が知らない世界のことをもっと知りたいと、いつもそう思っています。

• 英語講師になったきっかけは何ですか？

さまざまな背景を持つ人々に会うことができるこの仕事に憧れていました。

• 日本人の生徒に英語を教えることはどうですか？

日本の文化は興味深いですし、その文化背景をもつ人々から直接異文化を学ぶことは、文化を学ぶとても良い方法だと思っています。

• 休みの日は何をしますか？

ほとんどの時間は読書をしています。また、映画を見たり、ビデオゲームを楽しんだりしています。最近は、歴史ドキュメンタリーやさまざまなニッチなトピックに関するエッセイに興味を持っています。

• Teaching Experience

Prior to being an ESL teacher, I worked as a private tutor.

• Favorite Lessons as A Teacher

I think I’m interested in classes that involve grammar since it’s always been a subject.

• Interest

I’m a big fan of historical and horror media.

• Where are you from? Can you tell about the city where you were born and raised?

I grew up in Quezon City, born and raised city kid. Although I’ve spent most of my childhood in an urban setting, every once in a while my family would take trips to the countryside to visit relatives. While I could see why some people like rural places, I’m a fan of the fast pace and the constant stream of new experiences that city life offers.

• How do you describe yourself? 

I think that I would describe myself as a very curious person. I’ve always been the type of person that likes to know more about the world and to try to discover new things I wasn’t aware of before.

• What made you an English teacher?

I’ve always been fascinated by people and with this job I get to meet different people from various walks of life.

• How do you like teaching English specially to Japanese learners?

TI think Japanese culture is interesting and I feel that learning about different cultures through the lived experience of people is the most honest and organic way to do it.

• What do you do in your free time?

Most of the time I like to read, I also like to watch movies and I enjoy playing video games. Recently, I’ve been very interested in historical documentaries, and essay videos on various niche topics.
